Great Cooks Run in the Family!
Since I can remember I wanted to be able to service the communities in Houston with Food for the Soul, and it was something I thought about as I was constantly cooking for my family and friends and neighbors. It was by their statements that I should start a business cooking for the general public.
I had to see how to start such a task and it hit me to make to-go meals for people who did not have the time to cook for themselves or their family. So I started sharing this with family and friends and put the time to make a few simple dishes that was satisfying and filling. The response I received from the group was a success!
The mourning of my late sister Beunca Nickerson aka "Bstacks" and the encouragement of a family friend Paul Stevenson aka "June bug" motivated me to come up with the name of the business Shan-To-Go and the rest is history! Now with a great mentor and guide Ed Peterson he showed me how to market the business and keep it simple by sharing the dishes that I enjoyed with my family and friend to the general public. I started posting my dishes on social media Instagram and facebook, and the orders started pouring in!
Today with the new website and online orders that I can take now gives me great joy to continue my dream and vision to help those who do not have time to fix a good meal to get it from a home who put love and care into every dish!

We had the good fortune of connecting with shantricniece brewster and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi shantricniece, we’d love to hear more about your end-goal, professionally.
my end goal is to open a restaurant that cater to the world.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
What sets me apart from others is that i am very passionate about what I do, I am mostly proud and excited that since the year I started in 2016 I’m still going stronger in 2020 I have seen the growth in myself I got to where I am today by KEEPING FAITH & NEVER GIVING UP, No, it wasn’t a smooth road, still not because being a single mother, a daughter and an aunt is a job itself. I found ways to put all those things together. When I first began, I didn’t have a car, I was using my mom car, her car broke down, so I had to use a rental car for two months just to keep my food going out because I didn’t have help and I wanted to do things on my own. I almost lost faith but I didn’t, some days I didn’t sleep because I am determined to be the best I can be. i overcame it by buckling my seatbelt and kept going. The lessons I learned along the way was to NEVER COMPARE yourself be the best and only version of yourself.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My mother Sharon “Punky’ Brewster is a strong woman , i owe her all the recognition because she molded the woman you see today. I pray to be a strong independent woman just as her. I hope she knows i love her so much and making her proud is my ultimate goal.
